How to Make Your E-Scooter Battery Last Longer: 8 Charging Tips

HZL 1.0 e-scooter battery charger with coiled power cable – electric scooter battery care tips

The battery is the heart of any electric scooter. Look after it and you will get more range from every charge and more years from your scooter. These simple habits help any lithium-ion e-scooter battery, including the one in the HAZEL 1.0.

1. Use the right charger

Always use the charger supplied with your scooter, or an official replacement made for it. A charger with the wrong voltage or current can damage the battery or create a safety risk.

2. Never charge unattended

Charge where you can keep an eye on it, on a hard, non-flammable surface, away from anything that could catch fire. Unplug once the battery is full.

3. Charge at room temperature

Lithium-ion batteries do not like extreme heat or cold. If you have been riding in the cold, let the scooter warm up indoors before plugging it in.

4. Avoid running it completely flat

Regularly draining the battery to zero puts extra stress on it. Top up after rides instead of waiting until it is empty.

5. Store it partly charged

If you will not ride for a few weeks, store the scooter indoors with the battery partly charged (around half), and top it up every month or so.

6. Keep it dry

Avoid deep puddles and heavy rain, and never store the scooter wet. Water and electronics do not mix.

7. Check your tire pressure

Soft tires create extra rolling resistance, which drains the battery faster. Keeping pneumatic tires properly inflated is one of the easiest ways to protect your range.

8. Ride smoothly

Gentle acceleration and steady speeds use less energy than constant hard starts, so you will travel further on every charge.
